01.
The agreement.
These Terms of Service are a contract between you and Alenoss Inc, a company registered in England (the "Lab", "we", "us"). They govern your use of the Dating Lab iOS app, the website at datinglab.com, and any related services we provide (together, the "Service"). By creating a Dating Lab account or using the Service, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use Dating Lab.
You also agree to our Privacy Policy and our Community Guidelines, both of which form part of this contract.
02.
Who can use Dating Lab.
You must be at least 18 years old to create a Dating Lab account. We check this at sign-up against your sign-in provider where possible. You must also have the legal right to enter into a binding contract under the laws of your country, and your use of Dating Lab must not be restricted or prohibited by any applicable law or court order.
You must not be a registered sex offender, you must not have been convicted of a felony or indictable offence involving harm to another person, and you must not be using Dating Lab on behalf of any other person or entity.
Dating Lab is currently available in the United Kingdom, the United States, the European Union, Canada, and Australia. We reserve the right to add or remove jurisdictions.
03.
Your account.
You may have one account only. Multiple accounts per person are not allowed and we reserve the right to terminate any duplicates we find.
You are responsible for everything that happens on your account. Keep your sign-in method secure. If your phone is lost or stolen, sign out remotely via Apple ID or contact us at support@datinglab.com.
Your account is personal to you. You may not sell, transfer, or grant access to anyone else.

Acceptable conduct.
The rules in our Community Guidelines apply in full. In summary, you must not:
- Catfish, misrepresent your identity, or use someone else's photos
- Harass, threaten, intimidate, or defame anyone
- Send sexually explicit content unsolicited
- Use Dating Lab for commercial purposes, including sex work promotion, escort services, multi-level marketing, financial scams, or solicitation of money
- Share content involving minors in any sexual context
- Promote violence, self-harm, or hatred against any protected group
- Use bots, scrapers, or any automated means to access or interact with the Service
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to other accounts or the Service infrastructure
- Share another user's personal information without their consent
- Continue to contact someone after they have blocked or unmatched you
Violation of any of these can result in account suspension or permanent ban. Some violations may also be reported to law enforcement.
05.
Content and photos.
You own the content you upload to Dating Lab (your photos, your profile text, your messages). By uploading content, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to host, store, transmit, display, and process that content for the sole purpose of operating the Service. This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except where we are required by law to retain it.
Every photo you upload is scanned by Hive.ai for safety before it becomes visible. Photos that fail safety review will be rejected or held for human review. You may not upload photos of anyone other than yourself without their consent. You may not use the Service to upload, transmit, or store any unlawful, infringing, or harmful content.
06.
Coins, Crafted, and purchases.
Dating Lab uses a virtual currency called coins. Coins can be purchased through the App Store and used to spend on features like Crafted Icebreaker, Crafted Profile, Boosts, Super Likes, and Daily Lab extensions. Coins have no cash value and cannot be exchanged for cash. Coins do not expire.
All purchases are processed by Apple under your Apple ID. We do not process your card details. The purchase is final at the moment of confirmation, subject to the refund rules below.
The Crafted refund guarantee
If you send a Crafted Icebreaker and the recipient does not reply within 48 hours of delivery, the coins you spent on that message will be refunded automatically to your in-app balance, provided you are eligible. Eligibility: every user's first three Crafted Icebreaker sends are eligible. Lab Members are eligible on every Crafted send.
Refunds under the Crafted guarantee are in coins, not cash. The original Apple purchase is not reversed; we simply credit your in-app balance with the equivalent coins.
Quality gate refunds
If a Crafted message fails our quality gate at generation time, you are refunded the coins automatically and the message is not sent. This is not eligibility-gated; it applies to every Crafted user.
07.
Lab Membership and auto-renewal.
Lab Membership is an auto-renewing subscription processed through your Apple ID. Membership unlocks the benefits listed in-app, including 100 coins per month, the ability to see who has liked you, unlimited Crafted Profile rewrites, removal of caps on Crafted Broadcast, and access to verified-only filters.
Auto-renewal disclosure
Lab Membership automatically renews at the end of each billing period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends. Your Apple ID will be charged at the rate displayed at the time of purchase. You can manage and cancel your subscription at any time in your Apple ID Settings on your device. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; you retain Membership benefits until then.
Pricing and plans
Plans and pricing are displayed in the app at the time of purchase. We may offer introductory pricing to new members for a limited time (for example, a discounted first month); the introductory price applies only to that initial period and renewals occur at the standard rate. Standard plan pricing may change in the future; we will notify you of any changes at least 30 days before they take effect.
Free trials
If a free trial is included in a plan, your Apple ID will be charged at the end of the trial unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends. Free trials are limited to one per Apple ID.
08.
Refunds.
All purchases through the App Store are subject to Apple's refund policy. We do not directly process refunds; you must request a refund through Apple's standard process at reportaproblem.apple.com. We will support legitimate refund requests in good faith.
The Crafted no-reply refund (described in section 6) is paid in in-app coins, not cash. It is separate from any cash refund you might receive from Apple. The two do not stack.
If we terminate your account for violation of these terms or the Community Guidelines, you forfeit any unused coins and any remaining time on your Lab Membership. You may dispute the termination via the appeal process in our Community Guidelines.
09.
Verification.
The Verified by the Lab badge is granted after you complete a 60-second selfie identity check performed by Persona. The verification is voluntary, but certain features (notably Crafted Broadcast) require it. The badge is valid for 12 months from the date of verification; you may be asked to re-verify after that period, or sooner if your main photo changes significantly.
Persona processes your selfie data under their own privacy policy. We receive only the verdict (pass or fail) and the date.
10.
Moderation and enforcement.
We moderate the Service for safety and Community Guideline compliance. We use a combination of automated systems (Hive.ai for photo moderation, a small text classifier for messages) and human review for edge cases. We also rely on user reports.
If you violate these terms or the Community Guidelines, we may:
- Issue a warning
- Hide or remove specific content
- Restrict your access to certain features (for example, suspend Crafted)
- Temporarily suspend your account
- Permanently terminate your account
- Refer the matter to law enforcement where required
Three upheld user reports within a 30-day window trigger an automatic temporary suspension. Severe single violations (threats, sharing minor content, etc.) trigger an immediate permanent ban.
11.
Termination.
You can delete your account at any time, instantly, from Settings inside the app. We will hide your profile from everyone immediately and purge your data within 30 days.
We may terminate or suspend your account at any time, with or without notice, for breach of these terms, breach of the Community Guidelines, or if continuing to provide the Service to you would expose us or other users to legal or safety risk. Where reasonably practical, we will tell you the reason.
On termination, you lose access to the Service. Any unused coins, remaining Membership time, or pending Crafted refunds are forfeit. Sections of these terms that should reasonably survive termination (intellectual property, liability, disputes) continue to apply.
12.
Intellectual property.
Dating Lab, the Dating Lab logo, the phrase "Because Chemistry is not a Swipe", "Crafted", "Written by the Lab", "Daily Lab", "Verified by the Lab", and all associated design elements are trademarks of Alenoss Inc. The software, content, and design of the Service are protected by copyright. You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from any part of the Service without our written permission.
You retain ownership of your own content as set out in section 5. Crafted-generated text produced for you using your inputs is yours to use, edit, and send.
13.
Disclaimers.
Dating Lab provides a platform for adults to connect. We do not vet, endorse, or guarantee any user. Verification confirms identity, not character. Conversations and meetings between users are the users' own responsibility. We make no representation that other users are who they claim to be beyond what verification confirms.
The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We do not warrant uninterrupted service, error-free operation, or that the Service will meet your specific expectations or requirements. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability and fitness for purpose.
Crafted-generated text is produced by a writing service and reviewed before send. We do not guarantee that any particular Crafted message will result in a reply, a match, or a date. The 92 percent reply rate referenced in our marketing is an aggregate observation from Lab Members and is not a promise made to any individual user.
14.
Liability.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability to you in connection with the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you have paid us in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim or (b) one hundred pounds (GBP 100).
We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, loss of data, or loss of goodwill, arising from your use of the Service.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or any liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.
15.
Disputes and governing law.
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts, except that consumers in the European Union may bring proceedings in their country of habitual residence as provided by EU consumer law.
Before commencing formal proceedings, please email legal@datinglab.com. We aim to resolve disputes informally within 30 days.
16.
Changes to these terms.
We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you in-app and by email at least 14 days before they take effect. Continuing to use the Service after the change date constitutes acceptance. If you do not accept the new terms, you may delete your account.
